Job Summary:
The Assay & Quality Control Officer is responsible for the accurate analysis and testing of gold samples to determine purity and value. This role ensures that all gold received or exported meets the specified quality standards and provides precise data for procurement and sales decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sampling & Analysis: Conduct Fire Assay and other analytical procedures (e.g., XRF) to determine the gold content and purity of samples.
  • Quality Control: Implement and maintain strict quality control protocols to ensure the accuracy and reliability of assay results.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with ISO standards.
  • Reporting: Prepare detailed assay certificates and quality reports for management, procurement, and clients.
  • Inventory Reconciliation: Verify physical gold holdings against assay records and financial accounts.
  • Safety: Ensure strict adherence to health and safety protocols within the laboratory environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or HND in Chemistry, Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Professional certification in Assaying is a distinct advantage.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a metallurgical or commercial assay laboratory.
  • Proficient in Fire Assay techniques and the use of spectrometers.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
