Telesales Manager
About the company and role:
PressOne Africa is the simplest way for entrepreneurs to get a phone number for their business. We offer a phone system that helps any business see all phone calls across their sales and support team. Founded in 2021, we’re a fast-growing startup based in Lagos, and a Techstars portfolio company.
We’re looking for a passionate and results-oriented Telesales Manager to build and lead a high-performing team. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be actively involved in the sales process, while also coaching and mentoring your team to achieve ambitious sales targets.
To carry out your role…
- You’ll recruit, onboard, and train a team of telesales representatives, fostering a positive and results-oriented environment.
- Develop and implement a winning sales strategy focused on converting leads into paying customers for PressOne Africa’s business phone system solutions.
- Coach and mentor your team, providing ongoing support and feedback to ensure they effectively represent PressOne Africa and achieve their sales goals.
- Analyse call data and customer interactions to identify trends, optimise call scripts, and continuously improve sales processes.
- Set clear and measurable performance metrics to track team and individual success.
- Collaborate with marketing and customer success teams to ensure a seamless experience for potential and existing customers.
- Sales Team Management: Oversee all aspects of the telesales team’s performance.
- Recruitment & Training: Develop and implement a recruitment strategy to attract top talent.
- Coaching & Development: Create and deliver training programs to equip your team with the necessary skills to succeed.
- Sales Strategy & Process: Develop and implement a data-driven sales strategy, including call scripts and processes.
- Performance Management: Set clear goals and track individual and team performance metrics.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct call reviews and monitor adherence to sales scripts and processes.
- Lead Generation & Qualification: Analyse sales data and identify trends to optimise lead generation and qualification strategies.
Requirements
The ideal candidate
- Proven track record of success in building and managing telesales teams (5+ years of experience).
- Strong understanding of the B2B sales process, specifically within the telecommunications industry (a plus).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Exceptional coaching and mentoring skills to develop top-performing sales reps.
- A deep understanding of sales metrics and the ability to translate them into actionable insights.
- Proficiency in CRM software and data analysis tools.
- A “get your hands dirty” attitude – you’re comfortable making calls yourself and leading by example.
- A passion for building a strong, results-oriented team culture.
What you should have
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Sociology or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a B2B sales role.
- Proven track record of exceeding sales targets.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in data analysis and CRM software.
