Job Description

A wholly-owned and operated Ghanaian company based in Accra, with manufacturing operations in Nsawam is looking for a Production Manager. The company’s product portfolio include skin & beauty care, hygiene and home care products. These products are manufactured locally and marketed in wholesale, retail and business to business channels. 

Job Summary 

The Production manager will oversee the manufacturing process within the company and ensure that production lines run without any problems and minimum downtime. He or she will work with staff and top management and also ensure that products are manufactured to set quality standards. The Production Manager must also adhere to safety/industry-related regulations and ensure standard operating procedures are followed. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities 

Production planning – The Production manager should be able to Plan in advance what is to be produced, how it is to be produced and by what time should it be produced. He / She must decide production targets to be achieved by keeping in view the sales forecasts. 

Production control – Production Manager must ensure production is completed well in time and also with lesser costs. Put in place a proper system of production control to that ensures continuous production, lesser work-in-progress and minimize wastages. 

Quality control – The production Manager must be concerned with maintaining required quality of the finished product. He / She must ensure effective control of any negative variables which affect the ultimate quality of a product and that quality standards are maintained at all times. 

Method Analysis – The production manager should study production methods by analysing them in detail and select the best alternative out of them to minimise the cost of production and improving productivity. 

Inventory Control – The Production manager must exercise proper control over the inventory. He /She should determine economic order size, maximum, minimum, average and danger levels of materials ensure overstocking and understocking do not arise and minimize wastages of 

Work Measurement – The Prodcution Manager must be able to measure the level of performance of work by a worker and be able to guide a worker who works below the 

level fixed by work-measurement techniques, to improve his performance through motivation. 

Attitude: 

  • • Proven work experience in production is required 
  • • Ability to lead by example. 
  • • Good understanding of regulatory requirements for manufacturing concerns. 
  • • Able to stand and walk around for long periods at a time 

Aptitude: 

  • • Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills 
  • • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills 

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Bio-Chemistry from a reputable university 
  • • 3 – 5 years proven experience in a managerial role within a factory. 
  • • Certification in Production and Inventory Management is an advantage 
  • • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications. 

AREA OF OPERATION: 

Factory at Nsawam, in the Eastern region 

Remuneration: 

Remuneration is within set range determined by the corporate governance structure of the company and is commensurate with work experience and added skills and competencies that is brought to bear in this role.
