Role Overview 

Reporting directly to the Project Manager, the Project Engineer will play a critical role in supporting the production team to achieve efficient and safe operations. This contract position offers a competitive salary starting from ZMW 15,000 per month.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive technical support to enhance production efficiency.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise civil engineering and mining projects on site.
  • Schedule mining activities, ancillary equipment, and labor to meet production and safety targets.
  • Ensure all mining operations comply with design specifications and scope of work.
  • Monitor production performance and recommend continuous improvement plans.
  • Prepare daily costing and set realistic production targets for the supervision team.
  • Report daily on equipment availability and utilization.
  • Participate in safety and environmental inspections, risk assessments, audits, and task observations.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of safe working procedures (SWP).
  • Oversee pit operations and construction teams on site.
  • Analyze production data and assist in mine plan setting and layout.
  • Ensure mine haul roads and ramps meet standard width and grade requirements.
  • Coordinate open pit mine development, including overburden stripping, ensuring spatial compliance.
  • Optimize utilization of all mining equipment.
  • Supervise monthly open pit volume quantities and prepare client reports.


Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining or Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role or related position.
  • Strong knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with drill and blast operations, load and haul, mine planning, geology, survey, contract administration, and dispatch.
  • Advanced skills in design and scheduling software such as Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac, and Mineshed.

Professional Affiliations and Licenses

  • Membership with Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
  • Registration with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB).
  • Valid Blasting Licence.
  • Valid Driver’s Licence.
