Job Description:
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing all warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, inventory management, order fulfillment, and dispatch of goods. This role ensures efficient warehouse processes, optimal space utilization, accurate inventory control, safety compliance, and effective management of warehouse staff to support seamless logistics operations and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Warehouse Operations Management:
* Oversee daily warehouse operations including receiving, storage, picking, packing, and dispatching
* Ensure efficient workflow and optimal productivity across all warehouse activities
* Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for warehouse operations
* Monitor warehouse performance metrics and implement improvements
* Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics activities
* Manage loading and unloading operations for trucks and containers
* Ensure timely processing of orders and shipments
* Optimize warehouse layout and space utilization for efficiency
* Implement best practices in warehouse management
* Maintain 24/7 operational readiness when required
2. Inventory Control & Management:
* Maintain accurate inventory records and stock levels
* Implement and oversee inventory management systems (manual or computerized)
* Conduct regular stock counts, cycle counts, and annual inventory audits
* Monitor stock movement and identify slow-moving or obsolete items
* Ensure FIFO (First In, First Out) and proper stock rotation practices
* Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies and variances
* Maintain optimal stock levels to meet customer demand
* Generate inventory reports and stock status updates
* Coordinate with procurement for stock replenishment
* Manage damaged, expired, or returned goods procedures
3. Staff Supervision & Development:
* Recruit, train, and supervise warehouse staff (forklift operators, pickers, packers, loaders)
* Create work schedules and assign duties to warehouse personnel
* Monitor staff performance and conduct regular evaluations
* Provide coaching, mentoring, and skills development
* Enforce discipline and handle staff-related issues
* Ensure adequate staffing levels for operational needs
* Motivate team to achieve productivity targets
* Conduct safety training and operational briefings
* Manage leave schedules and overtime requirements
* Build high-performing warehouse teams
4. Equipment & Asset Management:
* Manage warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, conveyors, etc.)
* Coordinate equipment maintenance and servicing schedules
* Ensure proper operation and safety of material handling equipment
* Maintain equipment logs and service records
* Manage warehouse assets including racking, shelving, and storage systems
* Coordinate repairs and replacement of damaged equipment
* Ensure proper use and care of warehouse tools and equipment
* Monitor equipment utilization and efficiency
5. Documentation & Reporting:
* Maintain accurate warehouse records and documentation
* Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports
* Generate inventory reports and stock analysis
* Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics
* Prepare goods received notes (GRN) and dispatch documentation
* Maintain waybills, delivery notes, and shipping documents
* Ensure proper filing and archiving of warehouse documents
* Provide reports to management on warehouse performance
* Monitor and report on budget versus actual expenditure
Requirements:
Minimum: HND or Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field
Minimum of 5-7 years experience in warehouse or logistics operations
At least 3-5 years in warehouse supervisory or management role
Proven track record in managing warehouse operations
Experience in inventory management and stock control
Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
Knowledge of logistics and supply chain operations
Experience managing teams of 10+ staff members
Experience in fast-paced, high-volume warehouse environments
