FOOD SECURITY AND AGRIBUSINESS OFFICER
A global non-profit organization is looking for a dedicated Food Security and Agribusiness Officer to assist in advising and supporting farmers with innovative farming techniques, methods, and technologies. The Food Security and Agribusiness Officer's roles will include providing advice and technical support in agricultural production, storage, processing and marketing. Our ideal candidate is someone who has a strong understanding of agriculture and agribusiness, is passionate about rural development and farming communities, and has excellent communication skills
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the implementation of donor funded agricultural development projects and programs in conjunction with various stakeholders.
• Facilitate the adoption of good agricultural practices and inputs such as improved seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides.
• Conduct on-site visits to farms and agribusinesses to diagnose and resolve issues.
Assist farmers in addressing challenges related to farming, crop and Iivestock management.
Train farmers on climate change, biodiversity, and resilient agriculture.
Organize workshops, meetings, and training sessions for farmers and rural communities as well as voluntary agricultural extension agents (animators)
• Assist farmers in planning and managing crop and animal production.
• Collect and analyse data related to agricultural production, pricing, and other relevant factors on regular basis
• Deliver presentations on farming techniques, new technologies, and other relevant topics
Collaborate with researchers and specialists to understand the local agricultural conditions and challenges.
Keep abreast with the latest developments in agricultural science, technology, and market trends
• Prepare reports on work activities, progress areas of concem, and recommendations for improvement
Qualifications and Skills
• Proven work experience in agricultural project management
In-depth knowledge of extension services delivery in Ghana.
Knowledge of modern farming techniques, agricultural policies and regulations.
• Experience working on donor projects.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in local Ghanaian languages may be an advantage
MSc degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, or a related field
• At least five (5) years' experience in agricultural project Management
