GRADER OPERATOR

 Job Purpose 

To efficiently maintain all pit floors, haul roads, dump areas mine accesses and other areas which carry traffic and ensure that these areas are free of spillage or any material which could cause damage to truck or light vehicle tyres and have a safe and efficient surface with adequate drainage to allow for free flow of storm water.

 Key Responsibilities

 • Conduct daily pre-start and maintenance checks and communicate adverse findings to supervisor.

 • Maintain all pit floors, haul roads, dumping sites and areas that carry traffic strictly according to procedures.

 • Utilize the grader in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications and Company’s standard operating procedures. 

• Maintain good and safe working surface and drains to support operations for the achievement of set targets. 

• Ensure proper dressing of shoulders and slopes and operate to fine grade specifications 

• Responsible for reporting any incident, unsafe act and condition to supervisor(s) always and perform any other related operational duty as and when required.

 Required Qualification & Experience 

• Basic Education Certificate / Middle School Leaving Certificate or its equivalent with at least 4 years’ working experience in construction or mining industry. 

• Valid operating licence/certification Technical Competencies

 • Proven experience operating a grader

 • Attention to details and ability to take and follow instructions

 • Understanding of Mining Health & Safety Procedures

 • Ability to work long and irregular hours

 • Well-developed communication skills

 • Goal oriented
