GROUP RESOURCE MODELLING MANAGER

About This Role

The role holder will be lead and manage the resource geology teams and supervise all Grade Control and Resource modelling activities across the Group of Companies, working closely with the Exploration Managers and Chief Geologists.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure relevant Safety, Mining and other statutory Codes and Regulations remain in full compliance, and actively promote Safety Culture and Hazard Awareness on the Mine.
• Maintain a safe workplace within the department and ensure compliance to all site policies and procedure.
  Assist in formulating the annual operating and capital budgets for mine operations, consistent with the Company’s established financial guidelines and business planning process.
• Manage the Resource Geology Teams.
• Assist in developing, maintaining and updating the mine's Grade Control and Production models.
• Use Datamine, Leapfrog and other geostatistical modelling software (as required) to complete regular geological and grade wireframes and block models.
• Provide periodic reconciliation, dilution estimates and grade variances between models.
• Make sound geotechnical interpretations to ensure ore body Grade Control estimates meet industrial standards.
• Proactive participation in awareness of local geology controls influencing modelling, including previous underground mined out areas.
• Responsible for ethical compliance with respect to mineral resource and mineral reserve estimates.
• Provide technical feedback into geology data and evaluate QA/QC system.
• Provide sectional annual budgeting requirements.
• Determine and validate estimation parameters for resource modelling.
• Interpret and update Resource Models.
• Participate in due diligence reviews and compilation of engineering studies.
• Participate in Life of Mine and Strategic Business Plan reporting as required.
• Develop and maintain constructive relationships with Internal Stakeholders (Geology, Mine Planning, Survey, Geotechnical and Operations teams).
• Perform other duties as may be assigned by your supervisor or authorized delegate.

Education, Work Experience & Key Competencies

• Bachelor’s degree of Science in Geology, Geological Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
• MSc in Mineral Exploration or other relevant discipline is an added advantage.
• A post graduate degree in Management or other related field is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience in mining and/or exploration geology, with 10-15 years of resource modelling experience.
• Experience in a gold mining environment, in open pits and preferably also underground.
• Multidisciplinary experience in all aspects of geology is desirable.
• Professional registration with a recognized professional association is desirable
• Valid Ghanaian driver’s license, defensive driving skills.
• Strong technical skills in underground mining, geotechnical engineering, grade
  control and planning.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills in mining or technical services.
• Proficient is geostatistical software packages.
• High level of proficiency in the use of modelling and estimation software.
• Good knowledge of relational databases and data base management, especially Microsoft SQL and Access.
• Detailed understanding of QA/QC methods applicable to sampling, geologic interpretation, and the entire resource modelling process.
• Ability to apply knowledge of standards, methods, and procedures to work situation.
• Must be conversant with the Mining Act and related regulations of the Republic of Ghana, and able to interpret and apply these laws and regulations.
• Strong 3-dimensional interpretation and geostatistical modelling skills in particular, the 3D modelling and grade interpolation.
• Experience in block modelling and resource estimation methods best practices.
• Demonstrate strong technical and analytical skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a competent team.
