HEAD OF UNIT-UNDERWRITING

A leading non-life insurance company invites applications from experienced, results-driven professionals for the position of Head of Underwriting. The successful candidate will provide strategic and technical leadership to the underwriting function while actively driving sales, marketing and growth of the Company's non-motor Insurance portfolio.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
 Technical Underwriting Leadership
- Provide strategic leadership and supervision to the underwriting team to achieve departmental targets.
- Review, evaluate and approve underwriting decisions within assigned authority limits.
- Ensure sound risk assessment, pricing adequacy and portfolio profitability in line with company guidelines.
- Develop and implement underwriting strategies to support sustainable business growth.
- Monitor underwriting performance, loss ratios and portfolio trends, and provide periodic management reports.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies and risk governance standards.

Sales, Marketing & Business Development (Non-Motor Focus)
- Lead business development initiatives with emphasis on non-motor products to drive premium growth.
- Identify new market opportunities, develop strategic partnerships and expand distribution channels.
- Support broker relations, corporate business acquisition and client retention strategies.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Broker Relations and Branches to grow non-motor portfolios.
- Drive cross-selling initiatives and contribute to company-wide revenue generation targets.

 Qualification and Experience
- Master’s degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Business Administration, Finance or a related field.
- Professional insurance qualification (ACII, DipCII, or equivalent) will be an advantage.
- Minimum of 10 – 15 years relevant underwriting experience with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
- Strong technical knowledge of underwriting principles and risk assessment.
- Proven experience in business development, sales & portfolio growth, preferably in non-motor insurance.
- Excellent leadership, communication and decision-making skills.
