LEGAL AND COMPLIANCE OFFICER

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Legal and Compliance Officer is responsible for leading the legal and compliance function of GCX. This includes ensuring adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and rules; developing and implementing compliance policies and procedures; providing legal advice to the Exchange; managing legal and regulatory risks; and providing legal representation for the Exchange.

REQUIREMENTS
- Qualifying Certificate in Law.
- A minimum of three (3) years of relevant post-qualifying certificate work experience.
- In-depth knowledge of compliance, legal, and regulatory issues relevant to the Exchange (e.g. Anti-Money Laundering Act 2020 / Securities Industry Act 2016).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and business acumen.
- Proven leadership and management skills.
- Very good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Creative thinking abilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement a comprehensive compliance programme.
- Provide legal advice to the CEO and other internal stakeholders.
- Manage legal and regulatory risks across the Exchange.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with regulatory bodies and external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with requirements and rules of the Exchange.
- Ensure timely resolution of legal disputes.
- Provide legal representation for the Exchange, including appearing in court and handling litigation matters.
- Provide legal support for contract negotiations and post-trading.
- Develop and implement legal and compliance training programmes.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy and protection laws.
