FG Gold Limited has been awarded the Baomahun Gold concession project located in Valunia Chiefdom, Bo District, and is currently in the development phase. To support this project development, FG Gold Limited is seeking a qualified individual to fill the vacant position of MAINTENANCE Superintendent.

 

PURPOSE

The Maintenance Superintendent provides strategic and operational leadership for all Mobile Equipment (HME & LV), pumps, generators, dewatering units and all engine-driven auxiliary equipment. The role ensures these assets are maintained safely, reliably and to OEM standards. The Superintendent is accountable for equipment availability, maintenance cost performance, workforce capability, compliance, and continuous improvement across the department. The role supports production by ensuring all assets are fit?for?purpose and aligned with the mine’s operational and business objectives.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

HSEQ Leadership & Compliance 

  • Provide visible leadership to drive a strong safety culture within all maintenance teams.
  • Ensure risks are identified, assessed, controlled and regularly reviewed.
  • Ensure compliance with incident reporting and investigation requirements.
  • Conduct JSA audits, workplace inspections and ensure corrective actions are closed.
  • Enforce compliance with SOPs, OEM instructions, HSEQ policies and statutory regulations.
  • Stop unsafe work and empower team members to do the same

 

Equipment Reliability & Availability (HME, LV, Pumps & Generators)

  • Ensure maintenance execution meets OEM standards across HME, LV, pumps, generators and all engine-driven equipment.
  • Oversee PM servicing, breakdown repairs, troubleshooting and overhauls for all asset categories.
  • Ensure pump stations, transfer systems and dewatering infrastructure maintain high reliability to support mining operations.
  • Ensure generator sets operate within performance requirements, including load, fuel efficiency and uptime.
  • Lead the maintenance team responsible for pumps, generators and auxiliary systems, ensuring strong coordination with HME/LV teams.
  • Monitor asset performance using CMMS data, telematics and condition monitoring inputs.
  • Lead root-cause analysis for repeat failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop long-term component and overhaul forecasts for all equipment including pumps and generators.
  • Ensure strong collaboration between Maintenance, Production, Supply Chain and HSEQ teams.

 

Decision-Making Authority (Integrated Responsibilities)

  • Approve maintenance schedules, work orders and task prioritization to ensure reliability targets are met.
  • Stop unsafe work and enforce compliance with safety, environmental and OEM standards.
  • Authorize maintenance-related expenditure within delegated limits, including parts, contractor services and urgent repairs.
  • Make operational decisions during emergencies, major equipment failures or unplanned downtime to protect people, assets and production continuity.

 

People Leadership & Workforce Development

  • Lead, coach and mentor supervisors, technicians and the pump/generator maintenance team.
  • Conduct performance reviews, training assessments and succession planning.
  • Ensure national workforce development and capability-building aligned with localization goals.
  • Plan rosters, manpower levels and ensure adequate coverage for operations.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability and high performance across all shifts.

 

Financial & Cost Performance Management 

  • Manage maintenance OPEX budgets and contribute to CAPEX planning.
  • Monitor cost performance, component consumption and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Ensure strict adherence to procurement and supply chain procedures.
  • Oversee contractor and OEM service agreements, ensuring value for money.

 

Process Improvement & Digital Optimization

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for safety, reliability and cost reduction.
  • Promote structured problem-solving methodologies (RCA, 5-Why, 3W, Lean).
  • Optimize the use of CMMS and digital reporting dashboards.
  • Ensure documentation and maintenance processes follow best-practice standards.

 

Governance, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, environmental and company governance requirements.
  • Maintain audit readiness and documentation quality.
  • Maintain equipment risk registers including critical pumps and generators.

 

QUALIFICATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Educational Background: 

Mechanical Engineering Diploma or Degree.

 

Experience:

  • 10+ years mining or industrial maintenance experience, with at least 5 years in senior supervisory or superintendent roles.
  • Strong experience maintaining diesel engines, pumps, generators, dewatering systems and mobile equipment.
  • Experience with Komatsu or similar mining fleets highly desirable.
  • Strong CMMS, planning and reliability engineering capabilities.
  • Experience working in developing countries or remote mining operations.

 

Technical Skills:

  • First Aid Certificate.
  • Valid Manual Driver’s License.
  • Strong computer literacy (MS Office, CMMS, diagnostic tools).

 

Languages: 

Fluency in English.
