JOB DESCRIPTION
The nanny will be responsible for providing attentive care to children in a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment. In addition to typical childcare duties, the nanny will be required to drive the children to and from school, extracurricular activities, appointments, and other outings as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Childcare
- Supervise and care for children in a safe and nurturing environment.
- Plan and engage children in age-appropriate activities that promote their physical, emotional, and cognitive development.
- Assist with homework, playtime, and educational activities.
- Prepare meals and snacks for the children.
- Help with bathing, dressing, and ensuring personal hygiene.
- Follow daily routines, including naps, bedtime, and mealtime schedules.
- Driving Responsibilities
- Safely transport children to and from school, activities, appointments, and outings.
- Plan efficient routes and manage time effectively to ensure punctuality.
- Ensure the vehicle is safe, clean, and well-maintained.
- Follow all traffic laws and maintain a clean driving record.
- Household Support
- Assist with light household duties related to the children, such as tidying up after meals, organizing play areas, and doing the children’s laundry.
- Keep track of and restock child-related supplies such as diapers, snacks, and school items.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding the children’s activities, behavior, and any concerns.
Health and Safety
- Prioritize the health, safety, and well-being of the children at all times.
- Administer basic first aid when necessary and handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently.
- Follow any specific instructions related to allergies, medications, or special needs of the children.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience: Previous experience as a nanny or in childcare is preferred. Experience in driving children is a plus.
Skills:
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Strong understanding of child development and the ability to engage children in age-appropriate activities.
- Good communication skills to interact effectively with both children and parents.
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively
- First Aid and CPR certification (preferred or required based on family’s needs).
Personal Attributes:
- Reliable, patient, and nurturing.
- Trustworthy with a high level of responsibility and attentiveness.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and respond to children’s needs with care.
Working Conditions
- Environment: Work primarily within the family’s home and on outings
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry children when needed, handle physical play, and be on your feet for extended periods
