Overview

We are seeking a meticulous and hands-on Optical Lab Assistant to support the production and preparation of prescription eyewear. This role involves working behind the scenes in the optical lab to ensure lenses are accurately cut, fitted, and finished to meet quality standards and customer specifications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lenses Production: Cut, grind, and polish lenses to meet the specific prescription and quality standards.

Frame Assembly: Mount and secure finished lenses into customers' or patients' frames.

Eyewear Repair: Perform minor repairs on eyeglasses, such as replacing screws or straightening frames.

Equipment Operation: Set up and operate machines for lens processing and perform routine maintenance on the equipment.

Quality Assurance: Inspect lenses for flaws, verify coating thickness, and ensure overall quality of the finished spectacles.

Inventory Management: Assist with ordering and managing stock of lens blanks, frames, and other optical supplies.

Record Keeping: Document all work performed, including test results and maintenance logs.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in optical technology is a plus.
  • Previous experience in an optical lab or similar technical setting preferred.
  • Basic understanding of lens types, prescriptions, and optical measurements.
  • Manual dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate lab machinery and tools safely.
