Key Responsibilities:

  1. Customer Service:
    • Greet customers and assist them with inquiries about prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, and general health products.
    • Provide advice on the proper use of non-prescription medicines and healthcare products.
    • Direct customers to the pharmacist for any medical or prescription-related questions.
  2. Prescription Support:
    • Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing prescription medications accurately.
    • Input customer and prescription information into the pharmacy’s computer system.
    • Label and package medications for distribution to customers.
  3. Inventory Management:
    • Monitor and replenish stock levels for medications and pharmacy supplies.
    • Check for expired or outdated products and remove them from shelves.
    • Receive and store incoming deliveries of pharmaceutical products.
  4. Administrative Tasks:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of prescriptions and transactions.
    • Process payments for prescriptions and over-the-counter products using cash registers or point-of-sale systems.
    • Answer phone calls and manage customer requests or inquiries.
  5. Pharmacy Maintenance:
    • Ensure the pharmacy is clean, organized, and well-maintained.
    • Follow health and safety standards to maintain a hygienic environment.
    • Assist with general housekeeping duties to support the smooth operation of the pharmacy.
  6. Regulatory Compliance:
    • Adhere to all pharmacy laws, regulations, and protocols.
    • Maintain confidentiality of customer information in compliance with privacy laws.
    • Support the pharmacist in ensuring that controlled substances are handled securely and appropriately.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (additional certification in pharmacy assistance is an advantage).
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy, healthcare, or retail setting is preferred but not required.

Key Skills:

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in handling prescriptions.
  • Basic math skills for handling payments and measuring dosages.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Organizational and multitasking abilities.

Additional Requirements:

  • Familiarity with pharmacy software or point-of-sale systems is a plus.
  • Willingness to learn about medications, dosages, and their uses.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and handle light to moderate lifting.
