Job Summary

To operate assigned machinery and fully ensure it is maintained at all times and smoothly running to avoid any disruption in production. Align with and support all production and maintenance teams in ensuring machinery and operating at optimum.


Job Details

The Production Technician shall be responsible for:

  • Carry out your work in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) as specified by the Production Manager, Maintenance Manager, Quality Assurance and the equipment manufacturer.
  • Take records on hourly basis that happens during the shift with your machine in your log sheet. He records his production output as captured by the machine counter. Take the flow meters readings before and after production or when there is a changeover.
  • Ensure cleanliness of the machine and work area at all times whilst on duty is to ensure only safe products are churned out during production at the right efficiency. 
  • At the end of every shift and change-over account for the time spent whilst on duty and raw materials and finished products handed over to you.
  • Ensure there is smooth flow of raw materials and finished products at both the upstream and downstream of your machine.
  • Ensure the hourly performance board is filled in accurately.
  • Be responsible for carrying out preventive maintenance schedules assigned to him as well as planned maintenance activities.
  • Document all activities carried out on his machine on the downtime sheet as well as adequate training on the job to make him more effective.
  • Do visual inspections of raw materials as well as finished products before use and release to warehouse respectively.
  • Carry out the necessary quality checks on the inspection equipment as well as the products to ensure the line is continuously producing safe products.
  • Liaise with his customers to ensure smooth running of the production line.


Requirements

Skills and Attributes Required:

  • Knowledge of food safety & quality management systems (IS0 9001, ISO 2200)
  • Ability to work in a team and adapt to change. 
  • Good interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills.  
  • Literacy in Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Strong troubleshooting skills. 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • A conscious SAFETY champion at all levels of operation.

 

Qualification:

     • HND or degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related 

     • 3 years post national service relevant experience 

     • An exposure to an FMCG manufacturing a plus
