SOFTWARE DEVELOPER

ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for a highly skilled, AI-native Software Developer to join our engineering team. You will design, build, and maintain robust APIs and integrations for national health platforms. The ideal candidate is fluent in multiple programming languages, deeply experienced in database design, and leverages AI‑powered developer tools to deliver high‑quality, well‑documented software at speed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, develop, and maintain backend APIs and system integrations for health information platforms.
- Build full‑stack web applications using Python, Node.js, and Elixir/Phoenix.
- Design and optimise relational databases using PostgreSQL and SQL.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation (API specs, operation guides).
- Leverage AI coding helpers (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor) as a core part of the development workflow.
- Collaborate with stakeholder teams from government health agencies and partner institutions.
- Participate in code reviews, system architecture discussions, and UAT planning.
- Troubleshoot and resolve integration and performance issues in production environments.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Programming & Database
- Python – intermediate to advanced proficiency.
- Node.js – API development and tuning.
- Elixir / Phoenix – an advantage.
- SQL – complex queries, stored procedures.
- PostgreSQL – schema design, indexing.

Tools & Mindset
 - All tools mandatory – extensive use.
 - Claude – prompt engineering & code generation.
 - ChatGPT – problem‑solving & clarification.
 - Cursor – AI‑native IDE and pair programming.
 - Version control & CI/CD experience (a plus).

 Educational, Skills and Other Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of professional software development experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deliverables simultaneously
- Experience with version control systems (Git/GitHub)
- Familiarity with healthcare IT, HL7 FHIR, or government systems is a distinct advantage
