General Farm Manager

Introduction.

A start  up  mix farming company located  at Akuapem north municipality in the Eastern Region of Ghana is looking for dynamic  farming manager  to over see its entire operation

Job Summary:

He or she will be responsible for overseeing the overall operations of the farm, ensuring maximum efficiency, productivity, and profitability. This includes managing staff, greenhouse and open field vegetable production, crops, livestock, equipment, and other resources.

 Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Planning: Develop and implement farm business plans, goals, and objectives in collaboration with the farm owner/management.

2. Crop Management: Oversee crop production, including planting, irrigation, fertilization, pest management, and harvesting.

3. Composting:  Supervise the manufacturing of compost using the droppings  from Livestock and birds and residue  from the crops

4. ⁠Greenhouse Operations: Manage greenhouse operations in   collaboration with the agronomist

5. Livestock Management: Manage livestock operations, including breeding, feeding, health, and welfare of the goats, sheep’s, rabbit, ducks/perkins, fishes ( catfish and Tilipia  ), and pigs in collaboration with allied professionals ( Vet  doctor )

6. Staff Management: Supervise the entire staff and recommend necessary training

7. Equipment and Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and repair of farm equipment, vehicles, and infrastructure. 

8. Financial Management: Manage farm finances, including budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting together with the cooperate Accountant

9. Quality Control: Ensure high-quality farm products, implement quality control measures and address any quality issues.

10. Environmental Sustainability: Implement sustainable farming practices, minimizing environmental impact and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.

11. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks, including crop disease, pests, weather events, and livestock health issues.In collaboration with other professionals

Requirements:

1.Ability to perform the task listed under the key responsibilities.

2. Experience: Minimum of 6 years of experience in farm management or a related field.

3. Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

4. Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of crop and livestock production, Greenhouse farming, farm equipment, and financial management.
