Business Development Officer

Job Summary

The Business Development Officer (BDO) will support SafeCrop Limited in expanding its market presence, strengthening partnerships, identifying new revenue opportunities, and driving commercial growth across cocoa sourcing and agribusiness value chains. The role focuses on developing business leads, building client and farmer networks, managing partner relationships, and executing strategic initiatives that enhance SafeCrop’s competitive advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct market research on cocoa trends, regulations & competitor activities.
• Identify new markets, customers, farmer groups & cooperatives.
• Analyse business opportunities and advise management.
• Build and manage stakeholder relationships.
• Support the development of sourcing communities & sustainability programmes.
• Prepare proposals, pitches, presentations & partnership documents. 
• Support negotiations, drafting MOUs & partnership agreements.
• Promote SafeCrop services and drive business leads.
• Maintain business development pipeline and convert opportunities into partnerships.
• Collaborate with internal teams & provide regular reports.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Agribusiness, Marketing, Development Studies, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in business development (Agribusiness/Cocoa is a plus).
• Strong research, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to analyze markets and identify growth opportunities.
• Confident in proposal writing, presentations & negotiations.
• Self-driven, organized, and able to meet targets.
