CARPENTER (CLASS 2)

Job Purpose
The Carpenter will be responsible for performing carpentry duties, ensuring compliance with statutory
regulations, safety standards, and organizational policies. This includes adherence to the Statutory
Instrument 109 of 1990 and conformity to internationally recognized SHEQ (Safety, Health,
Environment, and Quality) standards, specifically ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety), ISO
14001 (Environmental Management), and ISO 9001 (Quality Management).
Duties and responsibilities
1.1 Perform various carpentry tasks, such as building, repairing, and maintaining wooden
structures, equipment, and furniture.
1.2 Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on mine infrastructure, including buildings, bridges,
and other wooden structures
1.3 Inspect, repair, and maintain wooden structures and buildings.
1.4 Repair and maintain furniture and fixtures in offices, workshops, and other areas,
1.5 Perform carpentry-related maintenance tasks on equipment, such as wooden components or
enclosures


1.6 Collaborate with other maintenance personnel, such as electricians, mechanics, and fitters.
1.7 Comply with relevant mining regulations, safety standards, and company policies
Person Specifications
The ideal candidates should be in possession of the following minimum qualifications and attributes:


2.1 At least a NC/ND in Carpentry.
2.2 Apprentice Trained an added advantage.


2.3 A team player with good communication skills.
2.4 3 years of working experience as a Carpenter.
