Job Summary:

Trailer Mechanics ( Transport & Logistics Sector, Mutare) - Our client in the transport and logistics is looking for Trailer Mechanics to join their dynamic team.

A Trailer Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing trailers used for transporting goods. This role ensures that trailers are roadworthy, safe, and compliant with transportation regulations. Trailer Mechanics work in workshops, garages, or on-site, using specialized tools and diagnostic equipment to service mechanical and electrical systems.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspection & Diagnosis: Examine trailers to identify mechanical, electrical, or structural issues.
  • Repairs & Maintenance: Repair or replace components such as brakes, tires, axles, suspension systems, lights, and wiring.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine tasks like oil changes, lubrication, wheel balancing, and brake checks.
  • Fabrication & Welding: Weld and fabricate parts when necessary to restore trailer integrity.
  • Compliance Checks: Ensure trailers meet safety standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., DOT, OSHA).
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of inspections, repairs, and parts used.
  • Client Communication: Provide estimates and updates to fleet managers or clients regarding service timelines and costs.
  • Tool Management: Keep tools and equipment organized, calibrated, and in good condition.

 Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or vocational training in automotive or diesel technology
  • At least 3+ years of experience in trailer or heavy vehicle maintenance
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and repair equipment
  • Ability to read technical manuals and schematics
  • Physical stamina and manual dexterity
  • Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred for mobile service roles)

 Preferred Certifications:

  • ASE Certification in Medium/Heavy Truck
  • Welding Certification
  • OSHA Safety Training
