Carpenter

About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and reliable Carpenter to join a dynamic furniture and stationery store. In this role, you will be responsible for crafting, assembling, and repairing high-quality wooden furniture pieces. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and takes pride in producing durable and aesthetically pleasing work.

Key Responsibilities

• Measurement & Cutting: Accurately measure, mark, and cut wood and other materials according to specifications and design requirements.
• Furniture Construction: Build, assemble, and install furniture items including tables, chairs, shelves, cabinets, desks, and other custom pieces.
• Repairs & Restoration: Inspect, repair, and restore damaged or worn furniture to a high standard of quality.
• Tool Operation: Safely and correctly use a variety of carpentry hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery.
• Quality Control: Ensure all finished products meet quality standards for durability, finish, and design accuracy.
• Workspace Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment, including proper storage of materials and tools.
• Material Management: Monitor inventory of wood, adhesives, finishes, and other supplies; communicate restocking needs to management.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: Previous experience as a Carpenter or Furniture Carpenter with at least 1 year of hands-on experience.
• Skills:
  • Proficiency in measuring, cutting, shaping, and assembling wood materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints, sketches, or design specifications.
  • Good understanding of wood properties and joining techniques.
• Attributes:
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to delivering high-quality work.
• Advantageous: Basic knowledge of furniture finishing (sanding, staining, varnishing, or painting) is an added advantage.
