ABOUT THE COMPANY

We are a technology company based in Kokomlemle, Accra, specializing in digital hardware and software solutions. Our work involves close collaboration with Chinese partners and clients. This role is central to ensuring smooth communication between both parties.

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Chinese Translator to support day-to-day communication between our local team and Chinese-speaking partners and clients. The role involves both written and spoken translation, including documents, meetings, calls, and business correspondence. The ideal candidate must be accurate, professional, discreet, and culturally aware.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Translation & Interpretation

  • Translate business documents including contracts, agreements, reports, emails, manuals, and internal memos between Mandarin Chinese and English.
  • Provide real-time interpretation during meetings, calls, negotiations, and video conferences.
  • Proofread translated materials to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
  • Ensure cultural and contextual accuracy in all translations.
  • Maintain consistent terminology and develop translation glossaries.

Business Communication Support

  • Act as a language bridge between Ghanaian staff and Chinese-speaking partners.
  • Assist in drafting and editing bilingual emails, proposals, and presentations.
  • Support cross-cultural communication and business etiquette understanding.
  • Provide language support during meetings, onboarding, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for Chinese partner communications.

Documentation & Record Keeping

  • Maintain organized records of all translated documents.
  • Ensure proper version control of bilingual materials.
  • Assist in preparing bilingual reports and summaries.

Confidentiality & Compliance

  • Handle sensitive company information with strict confidentiality.
  • Follow company data protection and document handling policies.
  • Report any translation inconsistencies or issues to supervisors.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Chinese Language, Translation Studies, Linguistics, International Relations, or related field.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of professional translation or interpretation experience.
  • Experience in corporate, tech, or business environments is an advantage.
  • Experience working with Chinese companies is a plus.

Language Skills

  • Native or near-native fluency in Mandarin Chinese (spoken and written).
  • Excellent command of English.
  • Ability to translate under pressure accurately.
  • HSK Level 5 or above is an advantage.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with translation tools (CAT tools) is an advantage.
  • Good typing speed in Chinese and English.
