You will join an international, passionate, and ambitious team of 26 across 5 countries.
About the role: As the Communication Associate, you will be operationally and tactically responsible for communicating and driving GrowthAfrica’s brand towards relevant stakeholders:
(1) High potential African entrepreneurs,
(2) Current and potential funders, clients, and partners,
(3) Current past and potential employees and
(4) Alumni of GrowthAfrica’s activities.
The role focuses on executing, enhancing, and following up on the organisation’s communications strategy. Integral to the role is the operational and tactical development of communication resources covering templates and guidelines Focus for the specific role is videography, photography including scripting of interviews, editing and postproduction of video content for online and social media. You will, as part of the role, also copywrite and storytell for various materials and (social) media.
Other tasks may include: Support in the development of business development materials, execution of entrepreneur-supporting project communication, report to funding partners, and participate in and represent the organisation at relevant forums and events, Your responsibilities will include the following:
▪ Organise, script, and execute interviews with entrepreneurs, funders, and key stakeholders.
▪ Conduct video interviews and do videography for events
▪ Editing of video content and production of quality output especially for online and social media
▪ Photography and post-production of same
▪ Updating and optimisation of our YouTube channel
▪ Train and support colleagues on photography and videography
▪ Support with copywriting and in the development of textual and visual content for online media
▪ Support with project / programme communication
▪ Create standards, templates, and guidelines fostering the development of quality. Communication Associate 3 of 4
▪ Train fellow team members in brand guidelines and the creation of activity-based content input
▪ Test and experiment with the use of AI tools in the development and delivery of communication
▪ Photo (and video) document activities, entrepreneurial journeys, business growth plus impact
▪ Ensure a balanced coverage of all countries GrowthAfrica operates in and is interested in the development and follow-up through communications plans, timelines, and deliverables.
Whom we are looking for:
▪ 2 - 3 years of practical experience in videography, editing and production of video content
▪ Experienced in photography and post-production ▪ Demonstrated experience in writing and managing successful communication in English.
▪ Educational background and/or courses in photography, videography and content creation
▪ Ability to operate in a lean environment maximising on available internal resources
▪ Experienced user of Microsoft Office, graphical design/layout tools, project management, and documentation solutions
▪ Ability to work with templates in Microsoft Office and diligently implement per guidelines and set brand and layout standards
▪ Attention to detail, structures, and a strong sense of what constitutes quality
▪ Strong knowledge of social media platforms (focused on LinkedIn, YouTube.)
▪ Fluency in English, with excellent writing and communication skills
▪ Strong work ethic and a commitment to delivery as per quality standards plus timelines and deadlines
▪ Outstanding project- and time management skills and an ability to establish systems and structures that deliver efficiency, consistency, and quick turnaround of tasks
▪ Ability to work with a small team and successfully manage multiple and changing priorities in a fastpaced, dynamic environment
▪ A positive and productive attitude and a good sense of humour
▪ Communication experience within entrepreneurship, SME support or international development at a regional/international organisation is an advantage
▪ Experienced use of and curiouslty about AI and its application in the role
