We are seeking a diligent and self-motivated individual to join our team at GIRSAL Ltd. The role supports the daily functions of the Legal Unit and involves working with other teams and external partners.
The role requires a qualified lawyer with at least two years’ post call experience, good communication & writing skills, professionalism, and the ability to work well with others.
Objective
To assist and support with performing the functions and achieving the objectives of the Legal Department.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with providing all general legal services related to the business of the Company as assigned.
- Undertake legal review, drafting, interpretation and vetting of agreements, contracts, MoUs and other documents between the Company and other entities to minimize risks and maximize legal rights of the Company.
- Undertake legal research and analysis to keep abreast with key legislative changes that affect the operations of the Company and prepare legal opinions, reports and correspondence as required.
- Liaise with internal and external partners, collaborators, regulators and advisers, such as units, lawyers, auditors, office of the registrar of companies, ministries, departments, agencies, judicial and quasi-judicial bodies as required.
- Develop trackers and oversee them to ensure that the company complies with all applicable codes, directives, guidance, notices, policies and legal and statutory requirements.
- To provide support on company secretarial duties as relates to board and its committees; statutory & regulatory compliance matters (annual returns, applications, notification of changes etc.)
- To provide administrative, logistical and other support duties (memos, letters required and related to the day-to-day functions of the legal department.
- Ensure timely renewal of annual professional and other subscriptions for the department’s team.
- Set up and track the departmental dairy and work schedule (meetings, appointments, training, deadlines etc.).
- Assist with preparations for meetings, booking venues, minutes taking and follow up actions.
- Draft general correspondence, memos, reports and briefing papers as required.
- Develop process checklists and templates for routine duties.
- To ensure chronological and accurate record keeping and filing to ensure consistency between the hard copy folders and the electronic database and implement access and security protocols.
- To maintain adequate stock levels of all stationery required by the department for day-to-day functions.
- To undertake any other assignments that will be assigned by the Company Secretary and Executive Management.

Qualification(s) & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) or a university degree or an equivalent tertiary level qualification.
- Barrister-at-Law (BL) / Call to the Ghana Bar – Must be enrolled to practice and in good standing as a barrister and solicitor in the Republic of Ghana.
- At lease two (2) years post-call working experience in similar role.
- Membership in a recognized legal or corporate governance body is an added advantage.
