Job Purpose
To ensure the efficient planning, coordination, and management of all logistics and supply chain operations to support the organization’s operational goals while maintaining accurate inventory levels and compliance with regulatory requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will, among other responsibilities:
- Monitor vessel/aircraft arrival schedules, track cargo status, and advise goods arrival notifications.
- Liaise with licensed customs brokers/agents, shipping firms, freight forwarders, and GRA officials to facilitate smooth clearance processes.
- Arrange and coordinate payment of customs duties, taxes, and related fees; follow up with finance for prompt settlement to avoid delays.
- Supervise and coordinate physical examination of goods (where required), attend joint inspections, resolve any valuation or classification disputes.
- Ensure full compliance with Ghana customs laws, GBA procedures and other relevant regulations (e.g., permits from GSA, or Ministry of Trade where applicable).
QUALIFICATIONS
- A Bachelor’s degree; (a degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management will be an added advantage).
- At least 2 years’ post qualification experience.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills for dealing with GSA officials, port authorities, shipping agents.
- Excellent knowledge of shipping documentation (Bill of Loading, AWB, manifest, etc.) and port/logistics operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel for tracking and reporting).
- Valid Ghanaian driving license (category B with no restrictions) (manual).
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- At least 2–3 years of hands‑on experience in customs clearing and forwarding operations in Ghana (experience with Tema Port and international freight).
- Valid registration or good working knowledge of GRA customs procedures and ICUMS system is essential.
- Strong understanding of HS classification, duty calculation, and Ghanaian import/export regulatory framework, agents, and clients.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and handle multiple shipments simultaneously.
- High level of integrity, attention to detail and commitment to compliance.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to work flexible hours (including weekends/public holidays when vessels arrive or urgent clearances are needed).
