Reports To: Policy & Advocacy Officer, Sovereign Debt Management
Role Overview:
The Sustainable Development Manager (SDM) Intern will support the Sustainable Development team
in research, project coordination, and advocacy efforts. This role involves assisting in policy analysis,
stakeholder engagement, and sustainability program development. The intern will work closely with
the SDM team to promote sustainable growth initiatives, contribute to strategy development, and
assist in preparing reports and presentations for external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support research and data collection on African sovereign debt issues, including case studies on debt sustainability and vulture funds.
* Assist in drafting policy briefs, reports, and advocacy materials focused on AFRODAD’s African Borrowing Charter and debt restructuring mechanisms.
* Track developments in global debt relief measures (e.g. DSSI, G-20 Common Framework) and their impact on African countries.
* Participate in virtual and in-person advocacy campaigns, engaging with policymakers, civil society, and international financial institutions.
* Help organize events, webinars, and public discussions to advance AFRODAD’s advocacy on sovereign debt.
* Provide logistical and administrative support for the Sovereign Debt team’s activities.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in economics, Public Policy, Finance, International Relations, or a related field.
* Strong research and writing skills with a keen interest in African debt management issues.
* Analytical thinking with attention to detail and interest in policy advocacy.
* Ability to work independently and within a team.
