Job Description
A Shop Attendant is responsible for assisting customers, maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the shop, handling sales transactions, and ensuring products are properly displayed and stocked. The role requires good customer service skills, honesty, and the ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and attend to customers in a friendly and professional manner
- Assist customers in selecting products and provide basic product information
- Arrange and neatly display items on shelves and counters
- Monitor stock levels and inform management when items are running low
- Receive, record, and properly store new stock deliveries
- Operate POS/cash register and handle cash, mobile money, and other payments accurately
- Issue receipts and keep proper sales records
- Keep the shop clean at all times (sweeping, dusting, arranging shelves, etc.)
- Ensure pricing and product labels are correct and visible
- Report damaged or expired items to the supervisor
- Close or open the shop when assigned and ensure security of goods
