Chisipite Junior School is a vibrant and inclusive Primary School dedicated to fostering a nurturing and stimulating environment for our girls. With a proud 96-year history, our school is deeply rooted in the founding principles of Faith, Hope, and Love, which guide everything we do. As a member of the Association of Trust Schools, we are seeking a suitably qualified and empathetic School Counsellor to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will work with a group of children aged 4-13 years. The starting date would be January 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
• Student Support: Providing individual and group counselling sessions.
• Program Development: Designing and implementing school-wide programs and workshops on topics related to personal development, health, social skills, and citizenship education.
• Crisis Intervention: Responding to and managing crisis situations.
• Assess, monitor student progress through regular evaluations and provide constructive feedback and support. Maintain confidential accurate records.
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and guardians to support student development and address any concerns.


Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during school hours.
Conduct individual and class observations.
Candidates applying for this post, should possess the following qualifications and attributes:
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in school counselling. Master's degree psychology, or a related field.
• Extensive knowledge of child development, with a specific focus on the psychological and emotional growth of girls aged 4-13.
• Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is a significant asset.
Training in play therapy or other child-centred counselling techniques is highly valued.
• Computer literacy is essential.
• Police clearance prior to employment.

• Strong Communication Skills: Counsellors must be able to communicate effectively with students, parents, and teachers, using age-appropriate language for each group.
• Confidentiality and Professionalism: Maintaining strict confidentiality is paramount to building trust with students and families. A high degree of professionalism is required in all interactions and in the handling of sensitive information.

• Cultural Competence: An awareness and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds,
• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators and staff.
