RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop speeches, remarks, letters, and talking points for the CEO’s high-profile events, board meetings, and public appearances, ensuring all communications reflect the CEO’s voice and Conservation International’s mission.
  • Draft key institutional materials, including sections of the annual report, op-eds, and media statements, tailored for high-level audiences.
  • Work closely with the Senior Director of CEO Communications to shape messaging strategy and align CEO communications with broader organizational priorities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to identify and synthesize key messages, ensuring that all content is clear, compelling, and impactful.
  • Provide real-time support for the CEO at public speaking engagements, including staffing as needed.
  • Contribute to innovative storytelling initiatives to elevate the CEO’s role as a global leader in conservation.
  • Edit and refine communications from the CEO to maintain consistency, professionalism, and credibility.

Other duties as assigned by supervisor.  

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Typical office environment.
  • Frequent collaboration with senior staff and executives.
  • Some international travel may be required to support the CEO at events and engagements.
  • This position follows a hybrid work structure, working some days from the office and some remotely. Guidance will be shared during the interview process.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 7+ years of professional experience in writing and editing for executives, mainstream media, government, NGOs, or scientific institutions—or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven experience in executive-level speechwriting and event support.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate technical, scientific, or policy-related material into engaging, accessible narratives for informed public audiences.
  • Strong strategic thinking, research, and writing skills, with an ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed to support the CEO’s engagements.
