Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health and Safety Officer to join our team at a mine based in Zvishavane. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the workplace complies with health, safety, and environmental standards in line with the Mines and Minerals Act, the Factories and Works Act, the NSSA (National Social Security Authority) regulations, and all other applicable legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop, implement, and enforce health and safety policies, procedures, and systems in line with mining regulations.
• Conduct workplace risk assessments, safety inspections, and incident investigations.
• Ensure compliance with statutory obligations including NSSA, EMA, and Ministry of Mines requirements.
• Deliver safety inductions, training, and awareness programs to all employees and contractors.
• Maintain up-to-date health and safety records, reports, and documentation.
• Liaise with management, workers’ committees, and regulatory authorities on safety matters.
• Promote a safety-first culture across the mining operations.
Qualifications & Experience:
• A Diploma or Degree in Occupational Safety, Health and Environment (OSHE) or equivalent.
• At least 3 years’ experience in a mining environment is a must.
• Strong knowledge of Zimbabwean mining safety regulations and compliance requirements.
• Computer literacy and good report writing skills.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
