Role Summary
The Mine Captain will be responsible for the supervision and coordination of underground mining activities, ensuring production targets are met while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
· Supervise and coordinate underground mining operations across assigned areas
· Ensure work is carried out in accordance with mine plans, schedules, and procedures
· Enforce safety, health, and environmental standards at all times
· Lead, mentor, and manage underground crews to achieve production targets
· Monitor productivity, manpower, equipment utilization and operational performance.
· Coordinate with engineering, geology, ventilation, and maintenance departments.
· Identify operational risks and implement corrective actions.
· Ensure accurate reporting of production, safety, and operational metrics.
Requirements
· Extensive mining experience in underground operations.
· Valid Mine Captain Certificate of Competency
· Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in underground mining operations
· Degree or Diploma in Mining Engineering
· Strong knowledge of underground mining methods, safety systems, and regulations
· Proven leadership, supervisory, and communication skills
· Ability to manage multiple work areas and teams under pressure.
