Job Description
The Mining Engineer will be responsible for planning, designing, and supervising safe, efficient, and cost-effective mining operations. The role involves mine planning, drilling and blasting, production supervision, safety and environmental compliance, and supporting technical teams.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop short-, medium-, and long-term mine plans.
• Design pits, stopes, haul roads, ramps, benches, waste dumps, and drainage systems.
• Plan and supervise drilling and blasting activities.
• Monitor production, equipment utilization, and costs.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
• Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments.
• Ensure compliance with mining and environmental regulations.
• Work with geology, survey, geotechnical, and processing teams.
• Prepare cost estimates, feasibility inputs, and technical reports.
• Train and support junior engineers, technicians, and operators.
Qualifications & Requirements
• BSc in Mining Engineering; MSc in Mining Engineering or related field preferred.
• 3–5 years’ experience in open-pit or underground mining.
• Experience in mine planning, drill and blast, and production supervision.
• Knowledge of mine planning software such as Surpac, Deswik, Datamine, or Vulcan.
• First aid and recognized safety training such as IOSH or NEBOSH.
• Valid blasting certificate or ability to obtain one.
• Registered or eligible for registration with the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE).
• Valid driver’s license.
