Job Summary

We are seeking an Account Officer II to support the finance team in daily accounting operations, financial record-keeping, reporting, and compliance. The role involves managing transactions, reconciliations, payroll, statutory filings, and assisting with audits and budget monitoring.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Senior Accountant with ad hoc exercises when necessary.
  • Record daily financial transactions in the accounting system.
  • Prepare and process invoices, receipts, payments, and journal entries.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Reconcile bank statements and ledger accounts.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and file accounting documents.
  • Process payroll and ensure statutory deductions are accurately calculated (where applicable).
  • Monitor cash flow and petty cash transactions.
  • Assist in budget preparation and expense monitoring.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and tax regulations.
  • Deposit and withdraw cash and cheques at the bank.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing financial records and documentation.
  • Ensure payment amounts and records are correct.
  • Prepare tax returns and statutory reports where required.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
  • Assist with inventory and fixed asset accounting.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Qualification Requirements

Education

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting & Administration or a closely related field in Arts.

Experience

  • 5+ years' experience as an Accounting Officer or in a similar role.

Technical Skills

  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.
  • Knowledge of accounting software, such as QuickBooks.
  • Strong demonstrated use of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting and data mining tools such as SQL and Access.

Professional Certification

  • A professional certification – ACCA/ICAG (partly qualified) will be an added advantage.
