Responsibilities

  • Align payroll calculations with accounting, tax, and compliance requirements
  • Process and validate structured input data (salary, bonuses, leave) to ensure accurate payroll runs
  • Continually inspect and analyse payroll data, flagging and escalating any inconsistencies.
  • Define and document operational requirements for technical implementation 
  • Map product features to payroll workflows, ensuring seamless integration 
  • Translate manual payroll logic into structured rules that can be automated
  • Perform user testing of new features to ensure operational edge cases are covered
  • Support the documentation and improvement of payroll workflows and edge cases
  • Identify repetitive tasks that could be standardised or automated
  • Contribute to the creation of scalable logic and templates for multi-country payroll
  • Utilize BI and automation tools (Looker, SQL, n8n, Zapier) to streamline processes 
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with internal stakeholders (Finance, Product, Engineering, Ops)
  • Help track open items, missing data, or blockers across cross-functional teams
  • Take ownership of smaller deliverables and follow up with the right people to resolve issues
  • Be proactive, organised, and eager to contribute to a high-performing, globally distributed team

Minimum Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in finance-related roles with a focus on automating manual data activities
  • Experience working in fast fast-paced, innovative environment 
  • Educational background in Finance, Accounting, Business or Data (degree required)
  • Foundational understanding of financial principles, especially as they relate to payroll, tax, or cost accounting
  • Robust understanding of payroll or financial concepts (e.g. gross vs. net, statutory deductions, benefits)
  • Understanding of how payroll interacts with accounting, tax, and compliance rules
  • Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail
  • Eagerness to learn about payroll and system design
  • Experience with SQL, Looker, or other BI tools
  • Hands-on with data transformation tools, n8n, Zapier or similar low-code automation platforms
  • Familiarity with payroll system
  • Process mapping experience
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills in English
  • Strong proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets; familiarity with structured data is a plus
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and follow through on deadlines
