We operate across multiple regions with a growing fleet of delivery personnel and vehicles, and our services cater to both individuals and businesses across various sectors. We are now recruiting a Head of Operations to lead and scale our nationwide logistics and fulfillment operations.
Position Summary
The Head of Operations will be responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and optimization of the company’s entire logistics and delivery ecosystem across multiple cities. The role includes end-to-end oversight of fleet management, warehousing, order fulfillment, hub coordination, inter-city dispatch, cost control, and delivery quality assurance.
This is a mission-critical leadership role suited for a seasoned operations professional with strong commercial judgment, tactical precision, and exceptional people management capabilities. The ideal candidate must demonstrate a track record of executing at scale, building structured systems, and managing distributed teams under pressure.
Core Responsibilities
1. Nationwide Operations Management
• Own the end-to-end logistics function across all ShaQ Express hubs and service locations.
• Supervise all logistics activities including rider dispatch, routing, sorting, packaging, warehousing, and inter-regional movement of parcels.
• Establish and enforce regional SOPs to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery.
2. Fleet and Asset Oversight
• Manage all delivery vehicles (motorbikes, vans), ensuring availability, safety, compliance, and performance optimization.
• Implement preventative maintenance schedules, accident tracking, insurance renewal processes, and asset replacement plans.
• Set daily performance benchmarks for fleet utilization and delivery coverage.
3. Team Leadership and Field Staff Oversight
• Directly manage regional operations managers, hub supervisors, and key logistics staff.
• Design organizational structure and allocate resources to ensure effective regional oversight.
• Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, evaluation, and termination decisions for operations staff.
• Set clear performance targets for each staff category and hold them accountable to KPIs.
4. Hub and Warehousing Control
• Oversee the structure and functioning of each operational hub (e.g., Accra, Kumasi).
• Ensure accurate inventory, parcel intake, scanning, sorting, and dispatch.
• Coordinate daily reports on warehouse activity, parcel turnaround time, and order backlogs.
5. Delivery SLAs and Customer Experience
• Set delivery timelines and SLAs for all customer and business-facing services.
• Monitor daily exceptions (failed deliveries, customer complaints, missed pickups) and drive real-time resolution.
• Implement tracking, reporting, and performance feedback loops to enforce accountability.
6. Data, Reporting, and Operational Intelligence
• Develop daily, weekly, and monthly dashboards to track delivery KPIs across hubs and regions.
• Perform root-cause analyses of failures, inefficiencies, or high-cost areas.
• Provide regular reporting to the Head of Business and Executive Leadership to support decision-making.
7. Operational Cost Control
• Monitor and optimize logistics costs including rider wages, fuel usage, packaging, vehicle maintenance, and delivery expenses.
• Develop operating budgets, forecast expenses, and track variances.
• Propose process automations or structural changes to improve cost per delivery.
8. Growth and Expansion Execution
• Support business development teams with operational planning for onboarding new vendors or scaling to new cities.
• Lead site selection, staffing, logistics setup, and infrastructure readiness for new regional hubs.
• Design scalable systems that enable future service verticals (e.g., same-day delivery, cold chain, inter-city fulfillment).
9. Risk, Safety, and Compliance
• Implement and monitor occupational health and safety (OHS) standards for all field operations.
• Ensure compliance with local transport and labor regulations.
• Establish incident reporting protocols and escalation structures.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Engineering, or Business Administration.
• Minimum 6 years of professional experience in operations, logistics, or supply chain management.
• At least 3 years in a senior leadership role overseeing multi-region logistics operations.
• Strong experience managing fleet logistics, warehouse workflows, and last-mile delivery models.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams of 30+ people across diverse job roles and geographies.
• Strong command of Excel, operations software, and logistics reporting tools.
Preferred
• Experience in courier, e-commerce, ride-hailing, or express logistics industries.
• Working knowledge of tools for real-time tracking, route optimization, or delivery management.
• Certifications in Logistics or Operations are a strong advantage.
• Experience supporting scale-up operations across new locations is highly desirable.

Compensation and Benefits
• Monthly net salary: GHS 6,000 – GHS 8,000 based on experience.
