People & Culture Manager

Dikan is a nonprofit cultural and educational institution in Accra, Ghana, dedicated to shaping the next generation of African storytellers, educators, and creative leaders. Through our gallery, library, ArtPath (National Service Program), educational initiatives, and creative agency, we preserve cultural memory and empower Africa’s creative voices. The People & Culture Manager is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping Dikan’s people strategy and building a thriving workplace culture. This is more than HR—it’s about creating an environment where creativity and purpose meet, and where every team member feels inspired to do their best work
You will:
• Lead people and culture strategy across Dikan and its entities. •
Build HR systems and policies from the ground up.
• Champion diversity, inclusion, and continuous learning.
• Attract, engage, and grow top talent aligned with our mission.
• Act as a trusted advisor to leadership on organizational development. This is a rare opportunity to design an HR function for a purpose-driven institution with regional impact.
Key Responsibilities:
• Strategic Leadership: Develop and deliver people strategies that strengthen culture, boost engagement, and support long-term goals.
• Culture & Inclusion: Foster an inclusive workplace, integrating conversations around identity, equity, and belonging into our practices
• Talent & Engagement: Drive recruitment, onboarding, and retention. Create programs that motivate, recognize, and support staff well-being.
• Learning & Development: Build capacity through trainings, coaching, and leadership development programs.
• HR Operations: Establish policies and systems covering performance, compensation, benefits, compliance, and employee records.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).
• Professional HR certification (CHRP, CIPD, SHRM, or equivalent).
• 7+ years of progressive HR experience, with 3+ years in senior leadership.
• Proven ability to design HR systems and strategies from the ground up.
• Strong knowledge of Ghanaian labor laws.
• Experience in nonprofit, educational, or creative sectors is an advantage.
