Purpose of Role:

To ensure that our products meet internal quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations. This role involves managing quality control staff, monitoring production processes, and implementing food safety and quality systems.

Results / Accountabilities

1. Quality Control & Product Compliance

      • Develop and implement quality control procedures across production lines.
      • Monitor and ensure compliance with raw material and finished product specifications (physicochemical, microbiological, sensory, etc.).
      • Ensure all products and processes comply with internal quality standards and external regulatory, statutory, and customer requirements (e.g., HACCP, FSSC).
      • Conduct regular inspections and audits of production lines and sanitation practices.
      • Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to maintain consistent product quality.
      • Supervise and uphold all factory quality standards under the guidance of the Quality Manager.
      • 2. Laboratory Operations & Testing
      • Oversee daily laboratory operations to ensure efficient and effective testing.
      • Ensure timely and accurate testing of in-process and finished goods.
      • Analyze test results, identify deviations, and coordinate corrective actions with stakeholders.
      • Ensure laboratory practices and equipment calibration comply with industry standards and regulations.
      • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth lab operations.
      • Manage homologation samples in collaboration with the RMPM Analyst.
      1. Non-Conformance & Corrective Action Management
      • Investigate and resolve quality issues, including customer complaints and internal non-conformances.
      • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
      • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of quality control activities, including test results, inspections, and corrective actions.
      • Lead continuous improvement initiatives in quality systems and processes.
      1. Staff Management & Training
      • Supervise Quality Supervisors, Analysts, and laboratory staff.
      • Develop and deliver training on Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), testing procedures, and food safety standards.
      • Evaluate staff performance and promote a culture of quality and accountability.
      1. Inventory, Equipment & Calibration
      • Manage inventory of laboratory equipment and consumables.
      • Ensure timely calibration, repair, and maintenance of lab equipment and factory scales.
      • Liaise with OEMs for after-sales service and equipment support.
      1. Safety, Health & Environment (EHS)
      • Implement and monitor health and safety measures in the laboratory and quality areas.
      • Address safety gaps and report incidents with investigation outcomes.
      • Support compliance with overall EHS standards applicable to the work area.
      1. Data Analysis & Reporting
      • Perform data analysis and generate reports on laboratory test results and product quality trends.
      • Share weekly and monthly reject reports, including defect types and sorting outcomes.
      • Report on consumer complaints via NICE, ensuring timely investigation and closure.
      • Provide regular updates to the QA Manager and business unit, including trend analysis and inventory status.

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience:

  • Minimum HND in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, etc. or Professional certification relevant to the role.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ managerial experience within a food-manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in team building and integration of Food Safety/Quality team into successful manufacturing operations in a LEAN environment.

Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Analytical mindset with the capability to identify patterns and trends from data.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to drive process improvements.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) within the food industry.
