Role Summary

The Senior Business Development Manager is responsible for owning and growing the Ghana market by driving adoption of the company’s payment gateway, collections, and disbursement solutions. The role carries full commercial accountability for revenue, transaction volumes, and strategic partnerships, including leading engagements with international money transfer operators (IMTOs) for transaction termination into Ghana. The role requires both strategic leadership and hands-on execution


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Market Ownership - Own end-to-end commercial performance of the Ghana market across all payment products
  • Revenue Growth - Define and execute go-to-market strategies to achieve revenue and transaction volume targets.
  • Merchant and Enterprise Sales-Lead acquisition, negotiation, and closing of high-value merchants and enterprise clients.
  • Commercial Negotiation-Structure pricing models, SLAs, and commercial terms in collaboration with leadership and finance teams.
  • Cross-functional leadership-Act as the commercial bridge between business development, operations, compliance, product, and finance teams.
  • Performance Management-Monitor pipelines, merchant performance, and partner volumes; drive corrective actions where required.
  • Post mortems and continuous improvement- Own structured post-mortems on lost deals, underperforming merchants, delayed go-lives, and missed targets.
  • Market Intelligence- Track competitor activity, regulatory developments, and market trends within the Ghanaian payment ecosystem.
  • Team leadership and mentorship- Mentor and guide Business Development Associates; contribute to sales playbooks and best practices.
  • Executive Reporting- Provide regular performance updates, forecasts, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership



Competency Specification

Education - A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Marketing, or a related field. A postgraduate qualification (MBA or equivalent) is an added advantage.



Required experience level 

  • 5+ years’ experience in business development, sales, or partnerships within fintech, payments, or financial services. 
  • Proven experience owning revenue targets and closing complex commercial deals. 
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging IMTOs, banks, or financial institutions.
