Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve safety, health and environmental standards and practices within the Mine Site.
  • Promote and assist in the implementation of Site Safety and environmental initiatives and motoring tools.
  • Demonstrate a strong safety culture, acting when risks to human health, equipment or the environment are being witnessed. 
  • Develop mid-to-long range mining plans, pit designs, dump sequences, dump designs and stockpiles, etc.
  • Maintain a usable and neat data structure.
  • Develop and implement the short and long range mine planning units. 
  • Implementation of planning schedules, capital and operating cost estimates, and evaluations of all projects.
  • Cost and evaluate mine production equipment. Monitor the development of new technology and identify opportunities for implementation.
  • Supervise all Mine production activities including dig and haul, drill & Blast and pit dewatering. 
  • Organize and implement a two-shift system (Day & Night) for the Mine Production department. 
  • Train and mentor all Mining Engineers, Mine Captains, shift bosses, pit supervisors, operators and all workers that fall under the Mining Department. 
  • Participate in small to medium size construction, expansion or modification on Site projects.
  • Be a team leader with excellent communication skills and be able to provide technical assistance and analysis on all Site projects. 
  • Take part in review of geologic, hydrology, geochemistry and resource models. Interrogate models for key geotechnical, hydrology, geo-metallurgical information to guide mine criteria including the optimum mining rate. 



Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline (Master’s degree is an advantage)
  •  Sound knowledge of mine software like SURPAC or DESWIK 
  • Minimum of 8–12 years relevant mining experience, with at least 3–5 years in a senior or supervisory role
  • Strong knowledge of open-pit and/or underground mining methods
  • Solid understanding of mining legislation, safety standards, and best practices
  • Proven leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
