About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and dependable Accountant to oversee the day-to-day financial operations of a growing logistics business and its related entities. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring statutory compliance, preparing management reports, and supporting business decisions with timely financial information.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership of the accounting function, is highly organized, and can work independently in a dynamic business environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Record and maintain all financial transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable processes.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and management accounts.
  • Perform bank, cash, and supplier reconciliations.
  • Monitor company expenses and ensure proper documentation of transactions.
  • Assist management with budgeting, cash flow monitoring, and financial planning.
  • Ensure timely filing and payment of VAT, PAYE, SSNIT, corporate tax, and other statutory obligations.
  • Liaise with auditors, banks, regulatory bodies, and other external stakeholders when required.
  • Maintain an organized filing system for financial records and supporting documents.
  • Support the implementation and improvement of accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Track and reconcile logistics-related expenses, including fuel, transport, maintenance, and operational costs.
  • Ensure that recurring bills, supplier payments, and other financial obligations are settled on time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years' practical accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Professional qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ICAG) or active pursuit of one is an added advantage.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
  • Must be available to start immediately
