THE ROLE
The Chief Operating Officer will be the engine behind the bank's operational excellence. You will be responsible for all internal operations, technology delivery, process optimisation, customer experience infrastructure, and cross-functional performance. Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a role for someone who thrives at the intersection of strategy and execution.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Oversee day-to-day operations across all business functions including technology, service delivery, and support
• Design and execute scalable operational frameworks that support the bank's growth ambitions
• Drive digital transformation initiatives and ensure technology infrastructure is robust and future-ready
• Champion process efficiency through automation, data, and continuous improvement methodologies
• Ensure superior customer experience across all digital and physical touchpoints
• Build and lead a high-performing operations leadership team
• Collaborate with the CEO and executive team on strategic planning and execution
• Own operational risk management, business continuity, and vendor management
• Ensure regulatory compliance across all operational activities
REQUIREMENTS
• Minimum of 15 years' experience in banking operations, financial services, or technology-led organisations
• At least 5 years in an executive leadership role with P&L or operational accountability
• Demonstrated experience leading digital transformation in a financial services context
• Strong technology orientation with the ability to engage deeply with product and engineering teams
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; MBA required
• Proven ability to build, lead, and inspire diverse, high-performing teams
• Deep understanding of the Nigerian banking regulatory environment
• Exceptional strategic thinking, decision-making, and communication skills
