Job Title: Human Resources Officer

Department: Human Resources
Reports To: HR Manager / Director of Operations
Location: [Cantonment Accra]
Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Summary

The Human Resources Officer is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the HR department, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, and compliance with labor laws. This role ensures that HR strategies and initiatives align with the company’s objectives and foster a positive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruitment & Onboarding:
    • Manage full-cycle recruitment including job postings, screening, interviewing, and onboarding.
    • Develop and update job descriptions and specifications.
    • Coordinate new hire orientation and training programs.
  • Employee Relations:
    • Serve as the first point of contact for HR-related inquiries.
    • Handle employee grievances, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution in accordance with company policies.
    • Promote employee engagement and workplace satisfaction.
  • Performance Management:
    • Support the development and implementation of performance evaluation systems.
    • Assist in setting and tracking employee goals and KPIs.
    • Provide coaching and feedback support to managers and employees.
  • Compensation & Benefits:
    • Administer payroll, benefits enrollment, and leave management.
    • Ensure accurate employee records and data management.
    • Research and recommend competitive compensation strategies.
  • Compliance & Policy Administration:
    • Ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies.
    • Maintain and update HR policies and procedures.
    • Prepare reports and documentation required by regulatory agencies.
  • HR Strategy & Development:
    • Contribute to HR initiatives that enhance organizational culture and productivity.
    • Assist in talent management, succession planning, and workforce development.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience: 2–5 years of experience in HR or related roles.
  • Certifications (Preferred): SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent.
  • Skills:
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
    • Proficiency in HRIS and MS Office applications.
    • High attention to detail and confidentiality.
