Job Purpose:
The logistics officer will oversee and coordinate all bound shipments from international suppliers to Ghana. The role involves managing import processes, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery, handling documentation, liaising with freight forwarders, and maintaining compliance with Ghana’s customs and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, proactive, and have experience in international logistics operations.
Duties & Responsibilities
•Plan, track, and coordinate all international shipments from suppliers to Ghana.
•Liaise with shipping lines, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and transport companies to ensure smooth movement of goods.
•Prepare, review, and manage all import documentation: commercial invoices, packing lists, bill of lading, airway bills, certificates of origin, etc.
•Ensure compliance with Ghana Customs, FDA, GSA, and other regulatory agencies.
•Coordinate with international suppliers on order readiness, shipping documentation, and delivery timelines
•Track shipment from origin to final delivery and maintain shipment status updates in internal systems.
•Prepare weekly or monthly logistics reports, including shipment timelines, costs, and performance indicators.
•Analyse logistics data to identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements.
•Identify potential delays, risks, and bottlenecks in the supply chain and implement corrective actions.
•Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations, Incoterms, and Ghana import guidelines.
•Maintain proper filing and archiving of all logistics records.
Educational Qualification and Relevant Experience
·Degree in Business Administration (Supply Chain Management)
·Member of any Professional Association in Supply Chain Management
·Minimum 2-5 years’ experience in international logistics, freight forwarding, or import operations (experience in Ghana preferred).
·Strong understanding of international shipping processes, Incoterms, customs clearance procedures, and HS codes.
·Proficiency in MS Excel and logistics tracking software. (ICUMS)
·Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
·Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
·Experience in handling pharmaceutical manufacturing materials is an added advantage.
