Managing Director (Chief Executive Officer)

About the opportunity

A fast-growing, technology-enabled financial institution in Accra, Ghana, is seeking an experienced and visionary Managing Director (Chief Executive Officer) to lead its executive team and drive the next phase of business expansion.
The successful candidate will provide strategic direction, strengthen regulatory compliance, lead business growth, and expand digital and field-based financial services across the formal and informal sectors.

Key Responsibilities 
1. Executive Leadership and Strategy
• Develop and execute the company’s business strategy, annual budget, and growth plans.
• Drive customer acquisition, loan portfolio expansion, and regional market growth.
• Lead the executive team to achieve business objectives approved by the Board.

2. Regulatory Compliance and Corporate Governance
• Maintain strong relationships with regulatory authorities.
• Ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations and industry standards.
• Report directly to the Board of Directors and its subcommittees.

3. Products and Digital Growth
• Expand the adoption of digital financial services.
• Develop and strengthen savings and credit products.
• Promote responsible and respectful debt collection practices.

4. Portfolio Quality and Risk Management
• Maintain high loan portfolio quality and enforce performance targets.
• Establish a strong risk management culture across the organisation.
• Ensure ethical conduct and operational standards throughout the business.

Qualifications and requirements
Interested applicants must meet the following requirements:
• Executive Leadership: Proven experience as a Managing Director, CEO, CFO, or COO, with a track record of driving growth, digital transformation, or business turnaround within a regulated financial institution in Ghana.
• Regulatory Standing: An unblemished professional record and credible standing to satisfy regulatory fit-and-proper assessments.
• Industry Expertise: Direct experience in retail and microcredit, including loan book management, portfolio at risk (PAR), collections, and digital financial services.
• Commercial Acumen: Strong commercial judgement, financial discipline, and the ability to drive sustainable business growth.
• Language Proficiency: Professional fluency in English and at least one Ghanaian language.
