THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking an experienced Mine Supervisor to join our Mining team at our Obotan Site. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and coordinating all mining and ore haulage activities to ensure production targets are achieved efficiently and safely.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Supervise daily mining and haulage operations
* Conduct daily pre-shift meetings to communicate safety requirements and production targets.
* Supervise the transportation of ore to the mill and waste to designated waste dumps.
* Ensure mine access roads are properly maintained and safe for operations.
* Monitor and maintain water abstraction points to support effective dust suppression.
* Verify and ensure accuracy of hired mining equipment hours based on work completed.
* Assist the mining crews in supervising mining and haulage contractors to ensure efficient performance.
* Monitor production performance and implement improvements.
* Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
* Oversee ROM pad operations to ensure effective execution of crusher feed plans.
* Prepare and submit detailed end-of-shift reports on operational activities.
* Perform any other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge and Experience
▪ Degree or Diploma in Mining Engineering or related field
▪ Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as Mine Supervisor in open-pit mining operation
▪ Must have the Minerals Commission’s certificate in Shift Boss.
▪ The Minerals Commission’s certificate in Mine Captain will be an added advantage.
▪ Strong knowledge of mining equipment and processes.
▪ Knowledgeable in occupational health & safety regulations.
▪ Must be conversant with the application of the Minerals and Mining Act, 2006 (703) and related regulations.
