Responsibilities for Surface Geotechnical Engineers:
Establish and ensure underground ventilation design, installation, and monitoring standards based on industry best practices.
Continuously refine standards to integrate technological advancements and regulatory updates.
Conduct advanced technical ventilation related analysis and recommend improvements to ventilation infrastructure and operating practices.
Develop ventilation expertise within the site technical and operational teams through training and mentorship
Manage the scope and deliverables for any outsourced ventilation related consultant or other professional services
Foster on-going communication and collaboration with site operational and technical teams to optimize the ventilation networks, both current and future.
Conduct reviews of circuit modeling, mine design and ventilation plans, to identify potential risks and opportunities
Support the development of improvements and contingency plans
Maintain an up to date register of ventilation related equipment in service and available including critical spares.
Provide strategic input on ventilation related procurement and design specification to ensure cost effective, scalable, and operationally efficient solutions
Ensure alignment with best practices to enhance asset longevity and cross-operation application

Qualifications:
Ten (10) years of experience in underground mining including operational and technical aspects is required
Familiarity with ventilation network design, modelling and management is required
Knowledge of ventilation equipment including fans, cooling, and control systems is required
Ability to analyze complex ventilation networks and problems; prepare reports and comprehensive studies, and communicate findings effectively in written and oral formats required
Familiarity with operational ventilation installation and maintenance practices is required
Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to ventilation, including personal environment and contaminant management preferred
Excellent safety record and the ability to demonstrate safety leadership required
Ability to work outside in varied weather conditions for extended periods required

Flexibility in work hours for on-call and call-outs, as needed required
