Responsibilities:

  • Assist with scheduled preventative maintenance (PMs) and unscheduled repairs on underground mobile equipment.
  • Support mechanics in diagnosing issues and completing repairs to reduce equipment downtime.
  • Learn to identify parts, tools, and materials needed for specific maintenance tasks.
  • Accurately complete assigned documentation such as inspection checklists, work orders, and shift logs.
  • Observe and begin to use Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software (e.g., SAP) for tracking work orders and equipment status.
  • Follow instructions from journeyperson mechanics, leads, and supervisors to ensure safe and efficient task completion.
  • Participate in daily housekeeping duties to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to safety by following established procedures and participating in safety meetings and training.
  • Engage actively in learning opportunities and hands-on skill development.
  • Attend and participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and ongoing learning opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the maintenance team.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a recognized Heavy Duty Equipment Technician apprenticeship or pre-apprenticeship program.
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Underground Common Core is considered an asset.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices.
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn in a fast-paced underground mining environment.
  • Physically fit and capable of working in confined spaces and varying underground conditions, including lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and performing physically demanding tasks.
  • Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with mine site safety protocols.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude with a desire to build a career in underground maintenance. 

This is a residential position operating on a 7/7 rotation schedule, working 12-hour day and night shifts. The successful candidate must reside within commuting distance of the mine site, a local travel allowance is provided.
