Accountabilities 

  • Promote a strong safety culture, supporting the AGA safety vision and values, identify and mitigate risks within the mining Operations  
  • Provide hands on technical expertise and analysis for the Australian region underground mines, in the areas of mine production, drill and blast, design, infrastructure and ventilation requirements 
  • Liaising with site operations and the planning team to deliver successful integrated mine plans and operational support across the mining technical discipline 
  • Support Full Potential initiatives, identifying opportunities, and follow up with assisting with implementation, tracking and reporting, helping to drive value creation 
  • Apply understanding of mining contract management and carrying out detailed cost modelling for assessing mining projects and budgets 
  • Support the mine engineering and planning teams on each site and help identify and deliver training needs 
  • Act in accordance with the AngloGold Ashanti values, and develop and maintain constructive relationships with colleagues, business partners and other stakeholders. 

 

About You

  • A Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related discipline. 
  • Extensive experience in hard rock underground mining, including demonstrated mine planning, drill and blast, and operations experience, with an understanding of the interaction between Open pit and Underground mining. 
  • An understanding of mining cost estimation and analysis.
  • Advanced skills using general mining software packages is essential, familiarity with Deswik, Stope Optimiser, Ventsim and Pumpsim. 
  • Strong analytical skills, combined with high attention to detail and the ability to proactively identify and assess issues and opportunities. 
  • Solid communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to juggle competing demands and work as a team player  
  • Have a passion for coaching and mentoring others, and a continuous improvement mindset.
