Job Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented External Audit Officer to support audit engagements through the execution of audit fieldwork, verification of financial data, and preparation of audit documentation. This role is ideal for an early-career audit professional seeking hands-on exposure to external audits and a strong foundation in auditing and accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform substantive testing of transactions, including vouchers, invoices, and bank statements, to verify financial accuracy.
- Participate in client field audit engagements, including physical inventory counts and asset verification, under supervision.
- Conduct basic analytical reviews and variance analysis to identify unusual trends or discrepancies.
- Prepare clear and well-organized audit workpapers in line with firm methodology and documentation standards.
- Obtain, organize, and follow up on audit evidence and client documentation required for audit procedures.
- Assist in documenting business process walkthroughs and testing internal controls.
- Support the preparation of draft financial statements, disclosures, and management letter points for review.
- Identify, document, and promptly escalate audit issues and internal control weaknesses to the audit supervisor.
- Provide regular status updates on assigned tasks and contribute to timely completion of audit engagements.
Requirements / Qualifications / Skills
- BSc/HND in Accounting or a related discipline.
- 1–2 years of experience in External Audit.
- Registered student of ICAN or ACCA (Foundation or Skills level minimum).
- Basic knowledge of IFRS, auditing standards, and tax and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and willingness to learn audit tools and software.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, analytical mindset, and eagerness to learn.
- Close proximity to Jibowu, Lagos is strongly preferred.
