About the Role

Builders.com, a Strategic Business Unit of the Listening Bureau (LG) Group, is seeking an accomplished and visionary executive to lead the company’s commercial construction and engineering business.

This is a high-impact executive leadership position responsible for driving the strategic growth, operational excellence, and commercial success of the business. The successful candidate will lead the identification and development of new business opportunities, oversee the end-to-end delivery of commercial construction projects, and position Builders.com as a leading player within Ghana’s construction and infrastructure sector.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Head of Builders.com will provide strategic direction across all aspects of the business—from business development and client acquisition to project planning, execution, financial performance, governance, and operational management.

This role requires an experienced construction executive with a proven track record of leading commercial construction operations, delivering complex projects, managing multidisciplinary teams, and driving sustainable business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Business Leadership

  • Develop and execute the long-term strategic vision and business plan for Builders.com in alignment with the Group’s corporate strategy.
  • Drive business expansion by identifying, evaluating, and securing new commercial construction and infrastructure opportunities.
  • Develop sustainable growth strategies that increase market share, profitability, and long-term competitiveness.
  • Build strategic partnerships with clients, investors, consultants, developers, contractors, government agencies, and other key stakeholders.
  • Lead business diversification initiatives and identify emerging market opportunities within the construction industry.
  • Position Builders.com as a preferred partner for commercial construction and infrastructure development.

Business Development & Commercial Growth

The successful candidate will be expected to take ownership of the company’s commercial growth agenda by:

Management

  • Identifying new business opportunities and high-value projects.
  • Developing winning business strategies and market penetration plans.
  • Leading client acquisition and relationship management initiatives.
  • Negotiating commercial agreements and strategic partnerships.
  • Preparing competitive project proposals and tender submissions.
  • Driving revenue growth while maintaining sustainable profit margins.
  • Expanding the Builders.com brand within the commercial construction industry.

Construction Operations Management

Provide executive leadership across the complete construction project lifecycle, including:

  • Concept development
  • Design coordination
  • Feasibility assessments
  • Project planning
  • Procurement strategy
  • Budget development
  • Resource allocation
  • Construction execution
  • Quality assurance
  • Health, Safety and Environmental compliance
  • Project commissioning
  • Client handover
  • Project performance reporting

Ensure every project is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contractual obligations and quality standards.

Construction Consulting & Contracting

Project Portfolio Leadership

  • Provide strategic oversight for all ongoing commercial construction and engineering projects.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of financial, technical, and human resources.
  • Monitor project performance using appropriate KPIs and reporting frameworks.
  • Resolve project risks, operational challenges, and contractual issues proactively.
  • Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence across all construction activities.

Financial & Commercial Management

  • Develop annual operating plans, business budgets, and financial forecasts.
  • Drive revenue growth, profitability, and positive cash flow.
  • Monitor project financial performance and implement effective cost-control strategies.
  • Oversee commercial negotiations, contract administration, variation management, and claims resolution.
  • Ensure financial discipline across all projects and business operations.

Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with corporate governance policies, industry regulations, statutory requirements, and internal controls.
  • Develop robust  project governance frameworks and operational risk management systems.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate strategic, financial, operational, contractual, and project-related risks.
  • Support internal and external audit processes and ensure timely implementation of recommendations.

Health, Safety, Environment & Quality

Champion a strong culture of safety by ensuring:

  • Full compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) standards.
  • Implementation of Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) systems.
  • Continuous improvement in safety performance across all project sites.
  • Compliance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

Stakeholder & Client Relationship Management

Customer Relationship Management (CRM)

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, regulators, investors, financial institutions, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Lead  strategic negotiations on major  projects and commercial agreements.
  • Enhance customer satisfaction while securing repeat business opportunities.
  • Represent Builders.com and the LG Group at executive meetings, industry forums, conferences, and stakeholder engagements.

Leadership & People Management

  • Lead and inspire multidisciplinary teams across engineering, construction, project management, commercial operations, HSE, QA/QC, quantity surveying, business development, and project support functions.
  • Foster a high-performance culture built on accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive employee development, succession planning, performance management, and leadership capability across the business.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is an accomplished construction executive with extensive experience leading commercial construction businesses from strategic planning through project execution and successful delivery.

Candidates should demonstrate a proven ability to identify new business opportunities, develop profitable construction portfolios, manage large multidisciplinary teams, and deliver complex commercial projects while driving operational excellence.

Academic Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Architecture, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant engineering, construction, or technical discipline.

Professional Qualifications (Preferred)

Membership of recognized professional bodies such as:

  • Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE)
  • Ghana Institute of Construction (GIOC)
  • Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB)
  • Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb)

  • Minimum of 7 years’ progressive experience within commercial construction, engineering, infrastructure development, or project management.
  • At least 5 years in a strategic senior leadership or executive management role.
  • Demonstrated success leading commercial construction businesses or strategic business units.
  • Proven experience managing projects from business acquisition, design, planning, procurement, execution, commissioning, client handover, and executive reporting.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in contract administration, project governance, cost management, stakeholder engagement, and business development.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary construction teams and delivering large-scale commercial projects profitably.
